Mongolia Sunrise to Sunset (MS2S) is a non-profit trail race, with all proceeds dedicated to environmental preservation projects managed by the ecoLeap Foundation and ecoDevshilt. Funds from the race support environmental education, sustainable tourism, and community empowerment, while helping to preserve Mongolia’s nomadic lifestyle and cultural heritage. They also contribute to waste reduction and recycling initiatives in the Lake Hovsgol region. By joining the race, you not only challenge yourself but also help protect the natural and cultural treasures of Mongolia.
Founded in 1999, MS2S is one of Asia’s oldest ultra-trail events and is regularly recognized among the world’s most remarkable and beautiful trail races. Held in the awe-inspiring Lake Hovsgol National Park, the course takes runners on a 42km or 100km journey through forest trails, open steppe, and rugged mountain ridges overlooking the vast blue lake. With Mongolian horsemen assisting along the route and yaks grazing nearby, every step captures the spirit and wild beauty of Mongolia.
MS2S is more than a race; it’s a week-long adventure and exploration. Runners connect with local herders and families, sleep in gers beneath endless starry skies, kayak across the crystal-blue lake, and explore the wild landscapes surrounding Lake Hovsgol on horseback.
