Established in 2018, EcoDevshilt is a Mongolian non-profit NGO dedicated to advancing environmental protection and preserving Mongolia’s rich cultural heritage. Our mission is to support educational and awareness programs, foster innovation in sustainable waste management, and promote Mongolia’s unique nomadic lifestyle.
EcoDevshilt works to strengthen local economic practices and structures across key sectors—tourism, waste management, and agriculture—with a strong emphasis on community-driven development. All our initiatives are aligned with the principles of the UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Programme, which promotes a sustainable balance between economic growth and environmental conservation. The proceeds of MS2S represent an important source of funding for EcoDevshilt.
Our work has gained recognition from international development organizations. The Asian Development Bank partially funded our initiatives and adopted our model for the entire Lake Hovsgol region in a three-year project from 2017 to 2019. Since September 2020, we have also received partial funding from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and the Global Nature Fund to expand our waste management efforts. This expansion included a nationwide awareness and media campaign urging Mongolian citizens to reduce littering and embrace environmental responsibility.
